Regulatory Update

Archived Banking Codes

On 1 November 2009 retail bank deposit taking in the UK will become regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Motivated in part by its responsibilities under the Payment Services Regulations (PSRs) - to be implemented on the same day - the FSA is introducing a Banking Conduct of Business Sourcebook (BCOBS) that will introduce principles-based regulation to personal and micro-enterprise deposit taking products and services.

The Banking and Business Banking Codes are voluntary codes setting standards for good banking practice for banks and building societies in the UK.

You can download and/or print a copy of the Codes for personal use.

Banks and other organisations that want to provide the Codes to their customers can order copies from the BBA Publications area.
