NINJA loans

An informal term for loans made in America to aspiring home-owners with 'No Income, No Job or Assets' (NINJA). More formally known as subprime mortgage lending, these loans, and the subsequent inability of many borrowers to repay them amid rising interest rates and falling house prices, were largely responsible for setting off a global credit crunch in mid-2007.
