Addressing the future of data protection and privacy

With the review of the European Data Protection Directive, which will be implemented through new UK legislation, as well as the present E-Privacy Directive due to be implemented in May 2011, this will lead to much change for data protection in 2011.

The European Commission recently launched a review of the Data Protection Directive, which was first introduced in 1995, and will be publishing a formal proposal in 2011. In the meantime, the E-Privacy Directive will be implemented in EU member states and the UK Government has just completed a consultation on its implementation.

This conference will follow the release of the Commission’s statement on its proposals for a revised Data Protection Directive and the UK Government’s consultation response to implementing the E-Privacy Directive, and will provide a useful update on the latest developments, and challenges that lie ahead during 2011.
