The Queen’s Speech - BBA comment1

"The BBA will work with the Government to ensure any transition between regulatory authorities does not cause any disruption to the financial system and is implemented efficiently and effectively.

"We will work with them on developing the Financial Services Regulation Bill and on the other banking and business issues in the Government programme.

"In addition, an analysis is still needed of the cumulative cost of the national and international changes to banking regulation, and their likely impact on the economy. The new Government has an opportunity to evaluate the changes made so far and those in the pipeline.

"The UK has moved further and faster than than the other major economies on banking reform. We urge the Government to ensure all changes take account of the international reform agenda."
