Banking for people who lack capacity to make decisions (Scotland)
Code: AE236

This leaflet will help if you need to take on the financial and property affairs of someone who lacks the capacity to look after some – or all – of their own financial affairs. It gives guidance on how a bank or building society account can be operated on another person’s behalf; and details the various ways in which another person’s finances can be managed (for example using a Power of Attorney or becoming a financial guardian).
This guide applies for Scotland. There is a separate leaflet for England and Wales.
