TD Bank NV

The Toronto-Dominion Bank is a chartered bank subject to the provisions of the Bank Act (Canada). It was formed on 01 February 1955 through the amalgamation of The Bank of Toronto, chartered in 1855, and The Dominion Bank, chartered in 1869.

With its registered office in Amsterdam, TD Bank N.V. (‘TDNV’) was originally established in 1983 as The Canada Trust Company B.V.  In 2002, TDNV used the EU Banking Consolidated Directive to exercise its EEA right to operate a branch in the UK.  The UK branch of TDNV provides ancillary retail banking services exclusively for clients of TD Direct Investing (Europe) Limited (‘TDDI’).  TDDI was first established in the UK in 1997 and has since grown to become one of the UK’s leading execution-only share dealing providers.  With offices in Leeds, Manchester and a dedicated Investor Centre in London, TDDI provides UK investors with award-winning execution-only share dealing and investment services.  TDDI has more than 200,000 clients and manages over £5 billion of stock and cash assets on their behalf.

Both TDNV and TDDI are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Canadian-based TD Bank Group (‘TDBG’).  With its Headquarters in Toronto, Canada, TDBG has more than 85,000 employees in offices around the world, offering an extensive range of financial products and services to approximately 22 million customers worldwide and had CDN$896 billion in assets as at 30 April 2014.  TDNV is authorised by the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank – DNB Institution Number 481) and the UK branch is subject to limited regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority (UK Financial Services Register Firm Reference Number 216791).  Deposits held at TDNV are protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme.
