The BBA’s Wholesale Team seeks to ensure the BBA is effectively engaging on key regulatory and reputational issues on behalf of its major wholesale members with operations in the UK.

The BBA represents the interests of more than 240 member organisations with a worldwide presence in 180 countries. With our members, we engage with political and regulatory stakeholders to improve their knowledge and understanding of the benefits that London’s position as a major centre for wholesale banking brings.

Members are provided with opportunities to engage directly with senior regulators, politicians and policy makers and to input into the BBA’s consultation responses. They are also invited to the BBA’s high profile events in the UK and Brussels. This ensures that the views of this critical banking constituency are heard at the highest levels within the decision-making process.

Our priorities for 2014:

  • Ensure London remains Europe’s principal wholesale markets hub in the face of increasing political and regulatory challenges in 2014/15.
  • Facilitate cross-industry discussion between small, medium and large wholesale banks regarding development and promotion of technical skills, standards and knowledge across the wholesale sector.
  • Facilitate high level engagement between industry and domestic and international policy makers in order to advance our members, UK, EU and international regulatory agenda.
