Overview

The Certificate in Insurance is a core qualification for insurance staff working across all sectors of the profession and provides candidates with a fundamental grounding in key insurance principles, disciplines, products and markets. The Certificate allows you to develop the knowledge and confidence you need before you begin to focus your subsequent studies and specialise according to your ambitions and career requirements.

Recommended study time

Certificate units: 60–100 hours per unit, depending on the unit chosen.

Completion requirements

To complete you need to obtain a minimum of 40 CII credits. The following compulsory unit requirements apply:

  • (IF1) Insurance, legal and regulatory (15 credits); or
  • The Award in London Market insurance: (LM1) London market insurance essentials and (LM2) London market insurance principles and practices (25 credits in total).

 

Note: Due to the extent of syllabus overlap candidates who have passed IF1 and choose to sit LM1 will only be awarded one set of credits.

The remaining credits can come from any of the units offered within the CII insurance framework.
