As the UK’s leading association for the banking and financial services sector, the BBA represents the interests of more than 270 member organisations that make up the world’s largest international banking cluster and who collectively manage over 90% of all UK banking assets.

With our member banks operating 150 million accounts for UK customers alone and contributing over £50billion annually to UK economic growth, we make representation to policymakers, regulators, the media and all key stakeholders across the UK, Europe and beyond, working together to promote a legislative and regulatory system that works for customers and promotes economic growth.

  • Greater engagement with BBA Policy Committees, Technical Panels and Working Parties: Industry leaders, experts and professionals can now participate across more than 120 Policy-orientated Taskforces, Technical Panels, Working Parties, Liaison and Contact Groups aligned through four new High Level Policy Committees covering Retail, Wholesale, Corporate Policy and Financial & Risk
  • Increased coverage of key policy issues and markets: the BBA is continuing to increase resources and industry-wide collaboration on the key policy areas of such as Financial Crime – from economic fraud, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery & corruption to cyber security and resilience – and Capital Markets & Infrastructure, particularly in regard to MiFID L2, EMIR and Shadow Banking
  • Focused European Engagement:  As a member of the European Banking Federation, the BBA is enhancing its prominence, representation and activity through a new EU team and Brussels office. We will also be leading delegations and hosting events in Brussels engaging with British and other EU and Commission officials and MEPs for the benefit of member banks
  • Member-only Online Resources:  Priority notification of policy papers, consultation documents, regulatory and legislative responses, market information and communications generated by BBA Policy Directors and associated professional services consultants will be accessible through a new website and members’ only online resource, which is supported by the largest global financial and related professional service providers of expertise to the banking sector
  • Insight & Economics: In collaboration with leading academics and industry experts,  our Chief Economist, statisticians and Director of Strategy will provide high level strategic insight and thought leadership in the changing economic and regulatory landscape
  • Industry Learning & Development: The BBA Learning Academy will deliver more than 100 best-in-class training workshops and consulting solutions covering five core offerings; Financial Crime, Risk Management, Financial Regulations, Leadership and Special Topics. A new eLearning platform launching in 2014 will made available to the wider industry workforce, both in the UK and internationally
  • Policymaker and Key Stakeholder Roundtables: A new programme of high level roundtable briefings and discussions on specific policy issues and market trends with key industry figures
  • BBA Conferences, seminars and breakfast briefings: with over 50 industry events scheduled covering all major issues impacting the sector, members not only get up to coverage of important issues but the opportunity to network with peers and industry leaders as well as participating as speakers, panellists and exhibitors.
