Northern Ireland banking – 3rd Quarter 2016

Ian Jordan, Chair of the BBA’s Northern Ireland committee, said of the latest data:

“The banks in Northern Ireland continue to approve nine out of ten applications ‎by SMES for loans.  The third quarter usually sees lower borrowing demand and this year was no different, but across more than 3,000 businesses, the banks lent a total of £391mn in the quarter.  The restructuring of banks’ balance sheets in recent years, particularly around property and construction companies, is now stabilising and leaves the banks well-placed to meet the needs of businesses across the region”.
