The BBA is now integrated into UK Finance. Please go to www.ukfinance.org.uk for new content and updates from UK Finance.
Material published by BBA prior to 1st July 2017 is still available on this website.
From 1 July 2017, the finance and banking industry operating in the UK will be represented by a new trade association, UK Finance. It will represent around 300 firms in the UK providing credit, banking, markets and payment-related services. The new organisation will take on most of the activities previously carried out by the Asset Based Finance Association, the British Bankers’ Association, the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Financial Fraud Action UK, Payments UK and the UK Cards Association.x
This leaflet was put together by the BBA alongside UK retail banks, law enforcement and consumer groups. It provides vital tips on how to tell the difference between an approach from a fraudster and a genuine communication from a bank.
This includes new advice like “8 things your bank will NEVER ask you to do” (but a fraudster might).
The leaflet also highlights some of the most prevalent scams targeting bank customers, and gives vivid descriptions of the techniques used alongside a selection of real life case studies. There is also practical information on what a customer should do if they fear they have become a victim of fraud.
Copies of the Leaflet can be obtained by completing the order form and returning it with payment to UK Finance.Continue to the order form
